Antique Japanese Cloisonné Vase, Meiji Period Circa 1880 — Black Ground with Butterflies

A Japanese cloisonné enamel vase from the Meiji period, circa 1880. The tapering body is worked in a rich black ground with a fine musen (wireless) scrolling texture, decorated with three butterflies in flight rendered in lilac, cream, cobalt, and turquoise, each with distinct wing patterning. Vertical dividing bands run down the body in red, green, and gilt. The shoulder is bordered by a scalloped lambrequin band in lavender and a scale-pattern collar in olive, below a waisted neck with a silver-toned rim. The foot is banded in blue and white vertical stripes. Fine silver wirework throughout, consistent with the finest small-format Meiji cloisonné production.

Measures 5.75" tall, 3" at the widest point. Good antique condition; wear consistent with age. No Chips, Cracks or repairs
