Beswick Beagle - Wendover Billy- Small 1939
The small Beswick Beagle, modelled by Arthur Gredington after the champion show dog Wendover Billy and produced from 1964 to 2002. He stands alert with his tail held high and his head turned, the classic stance of a beagle on the scent. He has soft, long ears and a gentle, attentive expression. His tricolour coat is hand-painted in rich tan and glossy black over a cream ground, with the white tail tip, chest and legs typical of the breed.
At about 3 in tall, he is a charming small-scale piece that fits easily into any cabinet. He is a lovely gift for beagle owners, and a natural partner to the large Wendover Billy, model 1933A, for collectors of Beswick dogs.
