This matched pair of Royal Doulton flambé vases dates to 1947 and showcases the distinctive high-fired glaze technique that made Doulton's flambé wares so sought after by collectors. Each vase measures 6.5 inches tall and 3.5 inches wide, with the classic shouldered baluster form and trumpet neck typical of the period.

Flambé glazes were notoriously difficult to control in the kiln, with copper-based pigments producing the deep reds, blacks, and flashes of gold seen here. No two pieces fire identically, which is part of what makes flambé wares so collectible — each vase in this pair carries its own unique pattern of mottling, while still working beautifully as a matched set.

Both vases are in mint condition with no chips, cracks, or restoration. The glaze is glossy and undamaged on both pieces, and they retain their original form and finish from 1947.

William Cross Antiques has specialized in Royal Doulton for over 45 years. Every piece is personally assessed and accurately described, with careful, fully insured shipping and no duty for Canadian buyers. Get in touch with any questions about this pair.
