Royal Doulton Figurine Joan of Arc HN3681
Joan of Arc (HN3681) was designed by Pauline Parsons and issued by Royal Doulton from 1996 to 1998, standing 10 inches tall. Part of the Women of History series, the figure presents the Maid of Orléans as the warrior-saint she became in legend — armoured in off-white and grey, sword raised in one hand, a deep blue and gold banner held in the other. It is one of the most commanding figures in the Women of History series, Parsons capturing both the physical resolve and the almost otherworldly authority that made Joan of Arc one of the most enduring figures in Western history.
Pauline Parsons, whose work spans some of Royal Doulton's most ambitious figurative work of the late twentieth century, was particularly well suited to this subject. Joan requires both martial presence and spiritual intensity, and the figure delivers both — the posture of a woman leading an army and the expression of someone acting under divine conviction. The blue and gold banner against the pale armour gives the piece strong visual impact from any angle.
The production window closed in 1998 after just two years, placing Joan of Arc among the shorter-run Women of History figures and making clean examples genuinely hard to find. Fully insured shipping across Canada with tracking.
