Royal Doulton Figurine North American Indian Dancer HN2809

Sale price$99.95 CAD Regular price$125.00 CAD

North American Indian Dancer (HN2809) was designed by Peggy Davies and issued by Royal Doulton in 1982 as part of the Dancers of the World series, limited to 750 pieces worldwide, standing 8.5 inches tall. The figure presents a dancer mid-ceremony, rendered in warm yellows and browns, holding a branch of fire — a composition that captures both the visual drama and the spiritual gravity of Indigenous ceremonial dance with the careful attention to costume and movement that distinguishes the finest work in the series.

The Dancers of the World collection was one of Peggy Davies' most ambitious undertakings for Royal Doulton — twelve figures, each representing a distinct dance tradition from a different culture, each a limited edition Prestige piece researched and modelled with the rigour that defined her approach to the HN range. Issued between 1977 and 1982, the series is widely regarded as among the finest sculptural work produced under the Royal Doulton name, and individual pieces from it are perennial targets for serious collectors.

At 750 pieces worldwide the edition is tight, and original packaging and stand — which accompanied the series at issue — remain important to value for discerning buyers. North American Indian Dancer holds particular appeal within the series for its subject matter, its striking colourway, and the kinetic energy Davies brought to the pose. Complete series examples in matched packaging are rarely assembled, making individual pieces all the more significant as standalone acquisitions.
