Royal Doulton Figurine RCMP Bust -Pair

Royal Doulton R.C.M.P. Commemorative Busts HN2555 & HN2547 were modelled by Douglas V. Tootle and issued in 1973 as an official limited edition to mark the centennial of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police — one hundred years of service to Canada, from the founding of the North-West Mounted Police in 1873 to the modern force of 1973. Royal Doulton was commissioned to create a paired set that could honour both the origin and the living legacy of the RCMP in a single presentation, and Tootle rose to the occasion with two busts that together constitute one of the most historically significant pieces the company ever produced for the Canadian market.

The two busts stand approximately 8 inches tall and are designed as a matched pair. HN2555 depicts an officer of the North-West Mounted Police in the dress uniform of 1873 — the scarlet tunic and white and navy blue pillbox hat of the frontier force that brought law and order to the Canadian west. HN2547 depicts his modern counterpart in the iconic red serge and tan Stetson of the 1973 RCMP, the uniform that has become one of the most recognized symbols of Canada in the world. Displayed together, the two busts span a century of Canadian history in fine bone china.

The edition was strictly limited to 1,500 pairs and restricted exclusively to the Canadian market — making these busts genuinely rare by any standard. At over fifty years of age, complete pairs in excellent condition with their original presentation box are increasingly difficult to locate.
