Royal Doulton Figurine Santa's World Travels HN5598

Santa's World Travels (HN5598) was designed by Diane Kolar and issued in 2012 as part of Royal Doulton's Holiday Traditions Collection, in a worldwide limited edition of 3,500 hand-numbered pieces. Standing approximately 6.25 inches tall, it is a figure group rather than a single standing portrait — a substantially more complex and expensive undertaking in both modelling and decoration.

The composition is generously detailed: Santa seated in his chair, holding a globe as he plans his route, accompanied by an elf at his side, a Christmas tree and wrapped presents completing the scene. It is the kind of multi-element festive tableau that only a limited edition brief allows, and Kolar brought to it the same hand-painted quality and colour depth that define Doulton's best seasonal work. The globe motif — the "world travels" of the title — gives the piece a storytelling dimension that distinguishes it from the more conventional standing Santa portrait, and the warm, richly detailed palette reads beautifully under any light.

As a single-year limited edition of 3,500, the production is closed and the market is finite. This example retains its original box and certificate of authenticity — the complete presentation that serious collectors and gift buyers both seek, and which adds meaningfully to the appeal and resale value of any limited edition piece.
