Royal Doulton Flambé Vase, Circa 1930 — Mottled Oxblood Glaze

A Royal Doulton flambé vase, circa 1930, of ovoid form rising to a flared trumpet neck. The body is covered in Doulton's celebrated high-fired flambé glaze, a rich mottled crimson and oxblood ground streaked with dark veining and passages of amber and black where the copper-based glaze pooled and broke in the kiln, the effect unique to each piece fired. No painted scene; the glaze itself is the decoration, in keeping with Doulton's plainer flambé production of the period alongside their scenic Noke/Moore wares. Doulton flambé of this type was developed from the Chinese sang-de-boeuf tradition and remains among the most technically demanding glazes the factory produced.

Measures 6.25" tall, 3.5" at the widest point. Good antique condition; wear consistent with age. Mint Condition, no chips, cracks or repairs
