Product Description

This Royal Doulton stoneware jardinière carries shape number 8906 and dates to the early 1920s, placing it squarely in the Arts and Crafts period of Doulton's Burslem output. The decoration features incised natural foliage — elongated leaves on branching stems radiating across the body — set against a mottled ground in warm ochre, sage green, and amber tones. At 8.25 inches tall and 9 inches in diameter it's a substantial planter, designed to hold a significant pot or display as a decorative object in its own right.

A pencil inscription on the base reads "Lizzie French 1922," almost certainly a previous owner recording the piece at the time of acquisition — a charming detail that places this jardinière in documented private ownership for over a century and speaks to its quality and longevity.

The piece is in mint condition, with no chips, cracks, or restoration. The glaze is fully intact and the incised decoration is crisp throughout.
