Royal Doutton Figurine The Huntsman HN2492

Sale price$79.95 CAD Regular price$95.00 CAD

Royal Doulton The Huntsman HN2492 was modelled by Mary Nicoll, one of the most accomplished sculptors in Royal Doulton's post-war roster. Nicoll brought a particular authority to English country life subjects — her figures of sportsmen, equestrians, and rural characters are grounded in close observation and rendered with the kind of quiet confidence that comes from deep familiarity with the subject. The Huntsman is among the finest expressions of that sensibility.

Standing 7½ inches tall, the Huntsman is presented in his traditional scarlet hunting coat over grey breeches and cream stock, posed in the upright bearing of a man entirely at home in the field. His hound companion at his side completes the scene, evoking the pageantry of the English fox hunt with understated precision. The modelling captures both the formality of the huntsman's dress and the easy authority of his bearing — this is a man who has spent a lifetime in the saddle.

The Huntsman HN2492 — Style Three in the series — was produced for just five years, from 1974 to 1979, making it one of the shorter-run entries in Royal Doulton's sporting figurine canon. The brevity of production combined with strong and consistent collector demand for English country sport subjects keeps this piece genuinely scarce in the secondary market, particularly in excellent condition.
